Sharing the namesake of philosopher John Locke, Locke Academy was founded by Chan Weng Kit in 1971 (from Ipoh). Back in those days, there were no private schools available around Negeri Sembilan that held A Levels and GCSE to further one’s studies. Principal Chan Weng Kit saw this as an opportunity to establish a school for the younger generations as well as give back to a community that is so robust with young talent. Thus, Locke Academy opened its doors in 1971, maintaining a high level of education and tutelage for its students ever since.
